You can close down an unused program by selecting it from the list of active tasks and clicking on the “X” button next to the “Open” button. The unused program you selected will close. This will free up memory and CPU resources on the Mac.

You can also change the priority of a task by selecting it from the list of active tasks and clicking on the “Change Priority” button. This will open the “Change Task Priority” window, which will allow you to change the priority of the selected task.
