Same Game Parlays – What Are They and Are They Worth the Risk?

With the sports betting market as competitive as ever in 2022, online sportsbooks are constantly having to find new ways to improve the experience of their customers. As these sportsbooks have moved online to apps and websites, the speed and ease with which customers are able to bet has never been better. You can simply download your sportsbook app of choice, sign-up, or log in and you have thousands of markets, sports, and leagues available to wager on at your fingertips.

One of the best ways that sportsbook have been able to keep customers entertained is by introducing new ways of betting like parlay betting and same-game parlay. But what is a same-game parlay exactly? Well, it’s very simple. Simply put, the same game parlay (SGP) is a single bet that combines multiple outcomes from the same game and is dependent on all of those outcomes winning. For example, you could back the over on an NFL game, against the spread and throw in some player props to make one thrilling bet.

Placing the bet is just as simple. To start with, if you are a new customer then create an account which should take just minutes through their app. You can also take advantage of some of their welcome bonuses to score free bets and bet credits!

Once you have created your account, choose the game that you would like to create an SGP for, you can go for games in the MLB, NFL, NBA, and soccer games. Any game that is eligible for these bets will have a +SGP logo next to it. On the Event tab or game page, toggle On for Same Game Parlay, pick your props and you are away!

But why place an SGP bet? Let’s take a look at why you need to try this exciting market.

More exciting than single bets

Everyone knows that watching a game that you have wagered on increases the excitement of the game day. Maybe you backed the spread or the total and you are watching the points slowly but surely sway in your favor. This is exciting as it is, but with SGPs the thrills are present with every single play. You can combine player props, game props, game lines, and even quarters and halves all into one bet. This way every passing yard, rebound or point keeps you glued to your screen creating a gameday atmosphere like never before.

They are strategically beneficial

SGPs are high risk, and high reward but this does not mean that you cannot bet strategically. For example, let’s say you have chosen to place an SGP on an NBA game in which you expect the points to be free-flowing, so you back the over. There is a clear pathway to get to that point so try to paint a picture of the game e.g. player props on points, threes made assists, etc. So we will use the Miami Heat @ Philadelphia 76ers game for an example. You back the over the line which is at 212.5 and complete your SGP with player props, looking something like this.

  • Over 212.5
  • Joel Embiid over 25.5 points
  • Bam Adebayo over 21.5 points
  • James Harden over 6.5 assists

Wager less, win more

One of the best things about SGP bets is that you stand to win more money if all of your selections come in than you would if you were to bet on them individually. This also means that you do not have to wager as much to see a good return. The more selections in your SGP, the higher the odds and the less you will have to wager to rake in big returns. However, the more selections you have then the harder it becomes to win the bet so it is important to balance the risk and reward of each selection.

Tips

Whilst it is clear that SGPs are a great way to enhance your excitement on gameday, it is important to note that winning is not easy. However, there are a few ways to increase those chances. As well as our previously discussed game narrative strategy, it is always good to carefully choose which game it is that you are going to wager on. Generally, tightly contested matchups are going to be tougher to win with SGPs as they are hard to predict. Lopsided games are much easier to bet on as you can gather before the match who is going to dominate and bet accordingly, especially in regards to player props.

This article should have told you everything you need to know about SGPs and why you need to try them.
